1. Introduction

i) Discuss input and output devices for disabled computer users

 

 

People are diverse! - some people are not able to use the 'standard' devices that you or I use in our every-day lives. And so, devices have been specially developed to allow for these differences.

Some disabilities mean that the input devices themselves need to be placed at convenient locations for the person. For example, someone with physical problems may need to have the input devices close by - as shown in the image, where a mechanical arm provides an excellent means of access.

This section will introduce you to some of the clever devices that have been developed to allow access to ict for almost everyone.
