8. Outdated standards
There are problems with standards becoming outdated over time. Technology moves at an incredible pace. What was ultra modern 5 years ago is now 'old hat'. Standards developed for that time become irrelevant as new technology surpasses the old way of doing things.
For example:
Old motherboards may not take new components such as RAM, they may not support modern buses.
The PC case may not be able to accommodate new components.
The power supply may no longer be adequate for the latest graphics cards which require more power
