Menu Interface

A Menu Interface is one type Human computer interface.

It is a method of selecting actions and options by clicking on a graphic on the computer screen. The graphic is called a 'Menu item'.

There are many styles of menus.

  • Horizontal bar across the screen
  • Vertical strip down the side, most often the left side
  • 'Drop Down' where clicking on a menu item causes more menu items to be displayed
  • 'Tabbed' so the menu looks a bit like a filing cabinet index e.g. Amazon.com

Designers are always thinking of new and interesting ways to display menu. Even 3 dimensional menus can be seen on some applications and web pages.
