LLM - Large Language Model

A large language model (LLM) is a form of artificial intelligence system that specialises in the handling of language.

It uses an algorithm called a transformer to predict what the most likely next word is going to be following on from what it has output thus far.

It can do so because it has been trained on a vast body of text from sources such as the Internet.

The OpenAI system called ChatGPT is an example of an LLM. There are also hundreds of open source LLMs available that technical people can train with their own data.
