Hierarchy

An organisation term.

A 'hierarchy' is where the members of the hierarchy group have a parent-child-sibling relation to each other.

If you draw a hierarchy organisation it will be similar to a typical family tree, with perhaps one or two members at the top of the tree and perhaps hundreds lower down the tree all connected by their relationship to one another.

A management organisation is said to be hierarchical when there is only one boss in charge that makes the most important decisions.
