Execute

A computer term. You 'execute' a program when you load it into computer volatile memory (RAM) and tell the CPU to begin running the instructions within the program.

An operating system such as Windows will recognise an 'executable' file by its extension .EXE

As soon as you double click on the program icon, the operating system loads it into memory and starts it running.
