Automated Data Input

There are many situations where data needs to be collected very quickly and reliably, so machines have been developed to allow this to happen. These machines are called 'Automatic Input Devices'.

For example, the Post Office makes heavy use of automated data input to read post codes from envelopes. Banks use automated data input to read cheques.
